Christmas

Christmas having just passed, it seems a bit tardy but still would like to comment on all the bickering about the Holiday. I am a Christian. I celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ on this day. I do not ask others who do not believe in Christ to participate in the celebration, neither do I enjoin them from celebrating as Christians do so they or their children will not feel left out, or for whatever other reason they choose to join in the festivities. But let's stop with the silly excuses for joining in; i.e., the Christians stole the pagan traditions so it's not really a religious thing, etc. Christmas is the commemoration of the birth of Christ however diluted or warped from its true meaning. The giving of gifts, the decorations, etc. are secondary. Without the religious observance there would be no Christmas holiday. You can bluster, lament or object, but it is still a simple fact - Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birth. If you don't believe, you still get the day off, you still can exhange gifts, decorate, whatever. Just don't deny the fact, it is all about Christ. No one forces anyone to participate in the celebration. If you don't like it, opt out, but don't blame anyone else for your decision, or rain on someone else's parade.
